The Environment Agency are encouraging businesses to start thinking about ESOS Phase two now to avoid the last minute rush of the last compliance deadline and the resulting price increase and resource pressures. The Phase two deadline for submissions of compliance is the 5th December 2019 and you have to include 12 months of data covering the 31st December 2018. That means that as of today you can do three things:
- Work out if you will be required to do a submission.
- Put in place processes to collect the data required over the 2018 year, this will be much easier than trying to find it all retrospectively for most businesses.
- Start to carry out site and transport audits to spread the cost and time requirements over the next two years.
